ESA Business Application (ESA BA) Ambassador Platform (AP), coordinated by IPN – Instituto Pedro Nunes, is part of a network of 9 ESA BA Ambassadors across Europe, which are aimed to disseminate key information about the programmes and opportunities from ESA BA, and to support the submission of national proposals.
The purpose of AP Portugal is to support the submission of ESA BA innovative projects aimed create or develop sustainable non-space services / products. Either through ESA BA directly, or through the implementation of a National Open Call (SPARK 4 BUSINESS), a tool aimed at promoting space-based applications, services and solutions for the needs of European citizens and society at large.

ESA BA AP in Portugal has been supported by ESA Space Solutions, as well as by the Portuguese Space Agency – Portugal Space, and ANACOM.
Feasibility Studies – preparatory framework to identify, analyse and define new potentially sustainable applications and services. Totally user-driven! You can find competitive tenders and open competitions for feasibility studies. They can be funded from 50 to 100%, depending on the call.
Demonstration Projects – dedicated to the implementation of pre-operational services. They are usually supported at 50% co-funding rate.
The purpose of this Portuguese call is to stimulate the submission of realistic ideas for innovative utilisation of space services and technologies – Satellite Communication, Satellite Navigation, Earth Observation and Human Spaceflight technologies, within non-space markets, such as transport, energy, maritime, environment, health, etc…
