“CERN Venture Connect – CERN’s New Startup Program”

ESA Space Solutions Portugal is organising the webinar “CERN Venture Connect – CERN’s New Startup Programme”, in partnership with CERN – the European Organisation for Nuclear Research, which will take place on October 19, 2023, at 3pm CEST. The event will be conducted in English and will last one hour. You can register here. https://forms.office.com/e/fy8A36DgEs.

The CERN Venture Connect (CVC) programme is an initiative that aims to revolutionise the transfer of technology from research institutions. CVC offers startups privileged access to CERN technology and know-how, providing free prototypes whenever possible. It also establishes licence agreements and facilitates links with venture capital. One of the innovative aspects of the CVC is its licensing model, which imposes a royalty rate of 2 percent on sales only when they reach CHF 20,000. This implies that startups should ideally be generating CHF 1 million in sales before any royalties apply, making the programme an attractive proposition.

The webinar will be conducted by Ash Ravikumar, a leading figure in the field of tech entrepreneurship. Since joining CERN’s Knowledge Transfer Group in August 2019 as Business Development Officer, Ash Ravikumar has been instrumental in managing all entrepreneurial activities for CERN. Ash Ravikumar has extensive experience in business development and commercialisation at universities in the US and Australia, as well as a stint at India. He holds a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering and Entrepreneurship from the University of South Florida.
